Meditation Benefits And Tips For Beginners

Meditation has been my medicine.

Whenever I share this with people, that I’ve been meditating from the age of 15, I see a shocking reaction  Really Alok?? 15!!! That’s not the age for meditation!!

But let me confess, I never liked doing it , I never understood it but I was forced to do it!

But today I’m glad & thankful to my parents, guides & masters for cultivating this habit in me which has worked as my medicine during challenging times. 

Some of the ways in which meditation has helped me are:

  1. Helped in breeding clarity during uncertain & ambiguous times.
  2. Helped in responding in tough situations instead of reacting.
  3. Helped in building the acceptance muscle which further allows me to learn & grow.
  4. Helped in embracing a beginner’s mindset in the midst of chaotic, confusing & challenging situations.
  5. Helped in improving my sleep quality.
  6. Helped in staying focused for a longer period of time. 
  7. Helped in building mental & emotional resilience.

For me, meditation has become a non-negotiable 

If you have never ever tried meditating but would love to commence this incredible journey, then follow the beginner’s guide given below:

  1. Start with just 1 minute of breath awareness. (You can practice multiple 1-minute sessions across the day).
  2. Watch the breathing process in your mind’s eye & whenever you find yourself lost, gently bring your awareness back to your breath.
  3. Post 1 minute get back to work.

Buddha said, One of the most powerful meditation practices is to watch our breath. Breath is a powerful anchor to hold our mind in the present.
